M&A ANALYST
(CLIENT-FOCUSED)
JOB DESCRIPTION

YOUR MISSION

At AcquiMatch, we help exceptional professionals become business owners, transforming lives and building legacies through business acquisition.

As a M&A Analyst, you’ll lead the charge in helping our clients make smart, life-changing acquisitions. You’ll be part deal analyst, part business strategist, and part trust-builder, surfacing businesses that are both financially sound and aligned with each client’s unique goals, skills, and risk tolerance.

This is a high-volume, high-autonomy role where you’ll vet hundreds of deals and guide clients toward the few that truly fit. You won’t just analyze numbers. You’ll think like a business consultant, understand client psychology, and help pitch the vision of what’s possible.

You’ll serve as a key point of contact with brokers and sellers, leading nuanced conversations, navigating pushback, and keeping momentum through both EQ and process rigor. And you’ll also field off-market leads from our BDRs, engaging with business owners directly, breaking down their financials, identifying add-backs, and coaching them through next steps toward a client introduction.

This role isn’t for someone who hides behind spreadsheets. It’s for someone who can sell a deal, smell BS, spot red flags, and bridge the gap between finance, people, and strategy.

M&A Analyst (Client-Focused)

  • Location: Remote (US Central Time Hours)
  • Job Type: Contract, Full-Time (with potential for long-term/permanent)
  • Travel: Not required currently, may occasionally be needed for key client or deal closings
  • Compensation: OTE: $70,000 - 75,000/year (includes base + performance-based bonuses), with flexibility for exceptional experience. This role is structured for high autonomy and fast growth, with clear pathways into senior roles.
  • Benefits: We offer a competitive time-off policy, wellness support, and performance-aligned perks to help you fuel beyond work.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Source & Screen:
Lead vetting for 8–10 clients simultaneously, often reviewing 30–40 CIMs per week to narrow to 2–4 high-quality write-ups per client per month. Identify opportunities, spot red flags, and prioritize fast-moving deals.

Own Early Broker & Seller Conversations:
Serve as the first point of contact in broker and owner outreach for vetted deals. Represent our clients professionally, build trust, and gather the context that makes or breaks the deal. You’ll also take point on off-market seller calls sourced by our BDRs, guiding owners through basic valuation, calculating add-backs, and preparing them for buyer introduction.

Assess Fit & Financials:
Review CIMs, P&Ls, tax returns, and balance sheets to evaluate business viability and alignment with each client’s unique “deal box.” Recast SDE/EBITDA, assess working capital assumptions, and flag risks like customer concentration or aggressive add-backs. When financials are incomplete, help clients understand how to fill in the gaps.

Deliver High-Quality Deal Write-Ups:
Create 8–10 detailed write-ups per week, covering business fundamentals, financials, client fit, risks, and recommended next steps. You make the complex digestible, balancing analytical depth with clear communication.

Evaluate Strategic Fit:
Think like a business strategist. Understand each client’s financial position, skill set, and goals to recommend deals that truly align. Help connect the dots between who the client is and what the business demands.

Manage the Deal Funnel:
Coordinate follow-ups, manage broker expectations, and keep momentum moving on vetted deals. You’re the point person until a Client Advisor steps in.

Collaborate Cross-Functionally:
Work closely with Client Advisors, Coordinators, and the Sourcing Team to ensure the right deals are surfaced and presented, at speed. Keep everything aligned, documented, and moving.

Advocate for Quality:
You’re not here to hit quotas. You surface deals that make sense for the client and are likely to deliver the outcome they want, and you speak up when they don’t.

Bias Toward Clarity & Speed:

You know when done is better than perfect, but you don’t sacrifice thinking or communication quality to get there. You thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments with high expectations.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Relevant Experience: 2+ years in consulting, M&A advisory, search funds, investment banking, corporate development, or similar.
  • Business Acumen: Ability to understand what makes small businesses resilient or risky. Comfortable evaluating industries, customer bases, and growth levers.
  • Client-First Mindset: You think beyond numbers and consider real-world dynamics, what this business really needs and whether your client can deliver.
  • Sales-Style EQ: You know how to persuade, connect, and ask hard questions, especially when dealing with brokers or resistant sellers.
  • Fluent in Financials: Comfortable with SDE recasting, working capital assumptions, valuation multiples, and spotting gaps in a P&L. Experience analyzing SDE/EBITDA, DSCR, working capital, determining initial valuations, and SBA deal mechanics. Reading between the lines on a CIM, or reviewing Balance sheets & tax returns if available - if financials aren’t available, helping clients understand where gaps are in intel and how to fill them
  • Strong Written & Verbal Comms: Your write-ups are crisp, clean, and easy to follow. Your calls leave sellers and brokers confident in your professionalism.
  • High Throughput, High Standards: You thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment without compromising quality or accuracy.
  • Detail-Obsessed, Fast-Moving: You thrive in spreadsheets, ask great questions, catch inconsistencies quickly, and don’t need to be told things twice.
  • Ownership Mentality: You don’t just want to be given tasks. You want to own outcomes, contribute to evolving processes, and be part of building something meaningful.

WHERE THIS ROLE CAN GO

As we grow, this role has a clear path to Senior Analyst, taking on higher-stakes deals, more complex client profiles, and potentially coaching junior analysts or coordinators. From there, you could evolve into a Team Lead or Vetting Director, overseeing the vetting process. If you lean more client-facing, there's also a pathway to become a Client Advisor, guiding buyers through the full journey from offer to ownership. We're building a company where great people grow fast.
