As Client Strategy & M&A Advisor, you will serve as the primary relationship owner and trusted advisor for a portfolio of clients. You will lead clients through onboarding, guide their acquisition strategies, and coach them through the entire deal lifecycle, from initial outreach through LOI, due diligence, negotiation, and closing.

You won’t directly manage deals or negotiate on clients’ behalf. Instead, you will empower them with education, strategic advice, emotional support, and practical tools to help them succeed.

You’ll also collaborate closely with our internal team, including a Client Success Coordinator, to ensure seamless client experience, clear progress tracking, and consistent momentum. You’ll be fully accountable for managing your own client relationships, communications, and process, with team collaboration to enhance and scale our overall client experience.

CLIENT STRATEGY & M&A ADVISOR

  • Location: Remote (US Central Time Hours)
  • Job Type: Contract, Full-Time (with potential for long-term/permanent)
  • Travel: Not required currently, may occasionally be needed for key client or deal closings
  • Compensation: OTE: $140k–$180k+ (uncapped), Includes a competitive base salary with meaningful variable upside tied to client success, including number of client acquisition closings, speed to close, and overall client satisfaction.

WHAT YOU'LL BE ACHIEVING

Client Onboarding & Strategic Alignment

  • Lead deep onboarding sessions (two 1.5–2 hour sessions per client):
    • Clarify vision, goals, skills, acquisition strategy, and target deal profile
    • Identify client mindset barriers and opportunities for growth
    • Set realistic expectations for deal process and timeline
  • Deliver client onboarding summaries and ensure smooth handoff to Vetting and Sourcing teams

Ongoing Client Success & Advisory Leadership

  • Serve as primary relationship owner and trusted advisor for assigned clients
  • Lead weekly strategic coaching calls (typically 30–60 mins), providing:
    • Mindset coaching → help clients identify and overcome emotional blockers, fear of debt, imposter syndrome, and decision paralysis
    • Strategic decision support → act as a thinking partner for major deal decisions, deal fit, personal readiness
    • Creative offer structuring → guide clients on SBA financing, investor capital, seller notes, and alternative deal structures
    • Deal process coaching → guide offer prep, LOI negotiation, diligence sequencing, and risk assessment
    • Seller & broker relationship coaching → help clients navigate emotional dynamics, deal psychology, and negotiation
    • Business strategy & deal fit advisory → stress-test and evolve deal box as new learning emerges during search

  • Push back and coach clients when they exhibit unrealistic expectations, misaligned strategies, or unproductive behaviors, always from a place of partnership and client-first integrity
  • Provide responsive, on-demand support during defined business hours, ensuring timely guidance when clients encounter deal roadblocks or key decision points.
  • Maintain proactive communication and accountability cadence, clients feel both supported and guided

Risk Mitigation & Client Empowerment

  • Teach clients to differentiate deal killers from negotiable risks
  • Guide decision-making at key inflection points
  • Support clients in off-market and brokered deals
  • Maintain client-first advisory approach, no pressure to close deals that aren’t the right fit

Internal Collaboration & Leadership

  • Partner with Client Success Coordinator to:
    • Ensure accurate tracking of deal progress and client milestones
    • Document key call outcomes and action items
    • Coordinate internal team involvement (Vetting, Sourcing,Sales, Ops, Founder) as needed

  • Participate in team pipeline reviews and leadership syncs
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvement, client experience innovation, and content/tool development

  • You’re an excellent communicator and educator, able to simplify complex deal concepts for first-time buyers.
  • You bring calm presence and emotional intelligence to help clients navigate uncertainty and fear.
  • You understand that client success isn’t just about closing, it’s about the right deals, the right outcomes, and long-term client trust.
  • You love building deep, trusted relationships, clients view you as a true partner in their success.

In this role, you will wear multiple hats, flexing seamlessly across:

  • Client Relationship Leader (Account Director) → Own the client relationship, lead engagement cadence, drive progress, manage expectations.
  • Business Strategist → Help stress-test deal box, adapt search strategy, challenge assumptions, and guide deal fit.
  • M&A Advisor → Coach clients through deal structuring, financing options, process management, and lender dynamics.
  • Executive Coach → Guide mindset, emotional intelligence, and personal readiness for business ownership.
  • Client Experience Champion → Ensure white-glove, seamless client experience across all interactions.

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

M&A, Advisory, or Small Business Deal Expertise

  • 3+ years in small business transactions, M&A advisory, buy-side search, business brokerage, ETA, or related fields
  • Direct experience coaching, advising, or supporting buyers strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with SBA and conventional lending processes is a strong plus

Client Coaching & Empowerment

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication
  • Skilled at simplifying complex deal issues for non-expert buyers
  • High emotional intelligence and strong client service orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to coach clients through ambiguity, emotion, and high-stakes decision-making

Process & Execution

  • Strong understanding of deal structuring, due diligence, negotiation dynamics, and closing processes
  • Skilled at managing multiple client journeys simultaneously
  • Excellent meeting facilitation and documentation habits
  • Proactive and organized, drives momentum without micro-management

Tech & Tools

  • Proficient in CRM systems (HubSpot preferred)
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and collaborative tools
  • Quick to learn new tools and systems
