JOB DESCRIPTION

YOUR MISSION

Your mission as an M&A Research & Data Entry Specialist is to ensure the seamless flow of deals into the deal team’s pipeline, serving as the critical starting point of the entire client acquisition process. You will identify, organize, and maintain a robust pipeline of business opportunities by leveraging your research skills, technical know-how, and keen attention to detail. You will take full ownership of the top of the funnel, managing both on-market and off-market lead sourcing, qualification, and entry into internal systems. Your role is pivotal in enabling the deal team to focus on high-value activities, ensuring our services remain efficient and impactful.

 

M&A RESEARCHER AND DATA ENTRY SPECIALIST

WHAT YOU'LL BE ACHIEVING

Deal Research and Identification

  • Conduct manual research across listing platforms like BizBuySell and business broker sites.
  • Set up and maintain searches on various platforms to receive email notifications of new opportunities.
  • Regularly review broker and platform emails, processing potential deals into the internal database.
  • Evaluate and flag promising opportunities based on pre-defined criteria for the deal team’s review.
  • Research and identify new deal sources, continuously improving the scope and efficiency of deal flow.
  • Identify, qualify, and manage off-market leads, ensuring high-quality opportunities enter the pipeline.

Data Entry and System Management

  • Oversee the accuracy and completeness of deal details entered into internal systems, such as Notion, ensuring data integrity.
  • Take full ownership of pipeline management, ensuring accurate and timely data entry of all on-market and off-market leads.
  • Manage the daily data entry process, verifying that all potential deals are accurately captured and flagged appropriately.
  • Regularly audit the database to ensure quality control, eliminate duplicates, and correct inconsistencies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the research and entry process by developing and managing scraping or AI tools to automate workflows.
  • Maintain and update searches on various platforms to receive notifications of new opportunities, ensuring timely input into the system.
  • Organize and update the database to reflect the latest opportunities and their statuses, ensuring the deal team has access to the most current information.
  • Refine and categorize incoming leads, ensuring that the best matches are identified and pushed through to the deal team, including submitting top opportunities for RFI (Request for Information) processing.

Deal Team Support

  • Take ownership of the top of the funnel by managing all incoming leads and ensuring they are qualified, categorized, and entered into the system efficiently.
  • Analyze financial data available to assess the viability and attractiveness of potential deals and match financial and operational deal characteristics to the specific deal boxes and preferences of clients, including industry, location, and company size.
  • Ensure that deals fitting client criteria are flagged and pushed to the deal team for the next steps in obtaining more information about the business.
  • Align research efforts with specific geographic and industry targets outlined by the deal team.
  • Ensure smooth workflows by communicating updates, resolving bottlenecks, and prioritizing time-sensitive tasks.
  • Act as the first step in the pipeline, ensuring high-quality deal opportunities are efficiently passed to clients.

 

YOUR SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Financial Acumen: Demonstrate a strong understanding of key financial metrics such as profit, EBITDA, SDE, and revenue.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in data entry and the ability to identify critical deal characteristics.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with scraping and AI tools to enhance research and data entry efficiency.
  • Research Skills: Ability to manually and systematically research deals, identifying high-value opportunities.
  • Proactive Mindset: Ability to work independently, taking initiative to optimize processes without constant supervision.
  • Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage large volumes of data and prioritize tasks effectively.

IDEAL TECH EXPERIENCE

  • Proficiency in tools like Notion and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail).
  • Familiarity with CRM systems such as HubSpot is a plus.
  • Experience with scraping tools or AI-based solutions for automating research and data entry tasks.
  • Comfort with listing platforms such as BizBuySell.
